Our October 25 Meeting Goals:

  1. Develop a shared understanding of the FEI Policy Plank #5 Build Community Wealth
  2. Share how our work aligns with and advances building community wealth
  3. Grow connections and collaborations for greater community wealth impact in Charlottesville

Focus for 2023!

In 2023 the Food Justice Network will focus on digging deep into the Food Equity Initiative Policy Platform - one plank at a time.  Each meeting we will come together, learn about the intentions of each policy goal, and share how our work aligns with and advances each plank of the platform. By the end of the year we hope to have a clear assessment of collective progress in our community towards building a healthy and just food system. Add your impacts toward each plank in our FEI Impact Tracker.

We look forward to connecting as the Food Justice Network Large Group on October 25!

Make Your Voice Heard for a Greener Future!

Let's join our partners at C3 and sign up to speak on behalf of Zero-Emission Buses in Charlottesville. Our City is gearing up for a crucial vote on the future of how our transit system is fueled, a move that will have climate and public health consequences for decades to come. We need advocates to speak up and support this initiative!

October 18, 2023- 5-6pm

The current phase of City of Charlottesville planning is focused on zoning and it is of critical importance to equity in our city. Check out Livable Cville's very helpful Charlottesville Rezoning FAQ. The Cville Plans Together team has information on their site and you can sign up to attend the October 18 Planning Commission's next deliberations.

Cultivate's The Power to Grow campaign is rooted in the history of Booker T. Washington Park. Join us later this month as we celebrate with Wildrock, Parks & Rec, Albemarle Garden Club, Piedmont Botanical Garden and other partners to bring youth into this wonderful space.

Charlottesville Transportation has been working to make getting around a little easier. In partnership with Veo, they are offering discounts to riders with low-incomes to hop on a Veo.

Be sure to wear a helmet!

You’re invited to Seeding Regenerative Futures: Real Climate Solutions in Ag – an interactive virtual workshop hosted by the HEAL Food Alliance on November 14, 2023 12pm PT / 3pm ET!

False solutions like methane digesters, GMOs, digital agriculture, and carbon markets are often celebrated as innovations that will fix agriculture's role in the climate crisis. Meanwhile, folks in our communities are implementing real climate solutions that restore the air, water, and ecosystems that we all depend on!

In this interactive workshop session, we invite HEAL members and partners to exchange ideas about how we can confront false solutions and build collective power for real climate solutions!

This event is part of the HEAL Food Alliance Platform for Real Food webinar series and is open to the general public!
